Kayla Matters is a New York based musical theatre actress who recently earned her BFA in Musical Theatre from Rider University in New Jersey. Kayla grew up listening to Norbert Leo Butz singing “Dancing Through Life” while she played with her Polly Pockets, and when she was 13, she asked for a replica of the dress Patti Lupone wore on the Gypsy playbill for Christmas. As she got older, her passion for theatre only grew, and helped her through some of her greatest hardships. She nurtured this passion by attending sleep away theatre camps, and participating in her school and local theatre company’s productions. She began taking dance classes, acting classes, and private vocal lessons in New York City, while taking in as much theatre as possible. The joy that theatre brings Kayla is indescribable, and she wants nothing more than to share that joy with the world.
